U.S. CAREER INSTITUTE GRADUATE ESME MILLER RECEIVES
STATEWIDE HONOR
CACCS Taps Miller for Meritorious Recognition Award
(Fort Collins, CO) - October 8, 2009 - Esme Miller, a recent graduate of U.S. Career Institute’s Massage Therapy course, has won the 2009 Physical/Massage Therapy Meritorious Recognition award presented by the Colorado Association of Career Colleges and Schools (CACCS). Ms. Miller received a plaque and certificate at the CACCS Student of the Year award ceremony held in Denver on September 24th. U.S. Career Institute, a member of CACCS, nominated Ms. Miller for the award on the basis of her professional commitment, academic performance and leadership in and out of the classroom.
According to the U.S. Career Institute nominating committee, during Ms. Miller’s weeks of clinical massage training in Fort Collins, she emerged as an outstanding participant. Not only did she have a perfect attendance record and an overall score of 97% in the academic portion of the course, but she added value to class discussions with her positive presence and extensive knowledge of natural healing. Lead instructor Linda Koch called Ms. Miller a “beautiful spirit” from which her teachers, massage clients and fellow students benefited.
Ms. Miller’s interest in natural healing stems from a time when she and her husband farmed in South Africa. They grew herbs, and Ms. Miller taught local women the value of using natural products for healing. Several years after relocating with her husband and three sons to Burlington, Colorado, Ms. Miller continued her interest in natural healing by enrolling in USCI’s Massage Therapy course. She completed the course in less than a year. She now has a successful massage practice in Burlington at a spa owned by a licensed R.N. She uses reflexology and herb-based natural healing in her massage practice. Ms. Miller’s professional path is so in tune with her personal interests that she says, “It does not feel like ‘work’ to me.”
The sponsor of the Student of the Year awards, the CACCS, is an association of Colorado career colleges that offer quality trade-education programs. The CACCS selects Student of the Year and Meritorious Recognition winners in several vocational categories. In selecting winners, it focuses on how a student excels in three areas: commitment to the chosen career path, performance in the classroom and leadership among fellow students and the community. The U.S. Career Institute nominating committee presented Esme Miller as its 2009 candidate in the Physical/Massage Therapy category based on clear evidence that she is exceptional in all three areas.
U.S. Career Institute is operated by Weston Distance Learning, Inc. (Fort Collins, Colorado), which also operates two other distance-education schools: At-Home Professions and McKinley College.
